International Widows Day
International Widows Day is observed annually on June 23rd to raise awareness about the challenges faced by widows worldwide and to advocate for their rights. MWW initiated the celebration of this day in Kenya since 2016. This day serves as an opportunity to address the social, economic, and legal issues that many widows encounter after the death of their spouses. International Widows Day aims to shed light on the discrimination, stigmatization, and marginalization that widows often face in various cultures and societies.
